Campaign: “A New Development”

Episode 18: The Last Whisper

April 18, 2025

Moving without hesitation, Korrin Vale made one final strike—and the blade drove cleanly through the guild leader's defenses, cutting deep. Szelden staggered, crimson blooming across her leathers. A breath, ragged and sharp, slipped from her lips.

The guild below remained frozen, every gaze locked on the duel above, watching their leader fall.

Szelden dropped to one knee atop the pipework, her dagger clattering down into the onlookers below. Blood ran in slow rivulets across the metal beneath her. She turned one last look toward the orcs and goblins—awaiting her final command.

Avenge me, she rasped, her voice like broken glass.

Then she collapsed, motionless, her body hanging halfway across the narrow pipe. Dead.

For a heartbeat, nothing moved.

Then chaos exploded.

Roaring in rage, the orcs and goblins that once answered only to her turned on the stunned guild members. Blades flashed. Screams echoed against stone walls. Blood splattered across the floor as the lair descended into madness.

Korrin watched from his perch, still standing atop the pipe. He could feel the structure vibrating beneath his boots from the violence below. A single step into the shadows, and he could vanish unnoticed—putting an end to his quest.

He began asking himself... Who will become their next leader? or Should I take Szelden's place?

He considered jumping down and helping the humans defend themselves against the orcs and goblins. This could make a good impression on them, if he did want to take on the new leader role.

He considered plundering the guild's vaults on his way out too, taking a few extra coins to further justify the experience.

Or maybe just sit and wait for the battle below to playout.

Below him, the guild tore itself apart.

The mission was complete. Szelden’s reign was ended. Yet the choices now stretching before him could shape far more than his own escape—they could shape the future of Blackport itself.
