Campaign: “Fury of the Forgotten”
Episode 1: The Forsaken Village
April 22, 2025
Under an autumn sky, Caelan Thorne rode into the borderlands of Blackmere. The wind carried no birdsong, only the sighing of barren fields and the distant creak of abandoned shutters.
Small houses leaned into one another for comfort, windows shuttered, doors bolted. No voices greeted him, no curious eyes lingered. It was as if even hope itself had become a thing too fragile to bear in this place.
Near the center of the crossroads village stood a once-proud temple, its stones now split and overgrown. The symbol above its archway had tarnished into a dull stain, hanging crooked against the crumbling facade. Weeds strangled the steps, and the altar within lay cracked and forgotten.
Caelan reined in his horse, taking in the sight. It pained him to see faith abandoned so completely, but he judged no one here. He knew despair could corrode even the strongest spirits. Something unnatural had altered this forsaken place.
At the heart of the crossroads, a single iron lantern swung gently from a rotting post, its glass shattered, its flame long dead. Beneath it, four roads stretched outward like the fingers of a skeletal hand.
To the south, a sunken trail vanished into the mists of the Withered Marsh. To the west, a weathered stone road twisted toward the broken ruins of a long-dead city now known as The Ancient Ruins. To the east, a narrow, overgrown path slipped between the hills, leading to Blackmere Barrows, a place where the dead once rested. Northward, the cracked and crumbling main road still pointed the way to the City of Blackmere—its walls said to hold what little hope remained.
With no help from the fleeing locals and no signs pointing the way, only the whisper of the cold wind urged him forward.
Caelan Thorne tightened his grip on the reins, feeling the weight of his task settle more heavily upon his shoulders. He could not delay. The Fury of the Forgotten was already stirring—and Blackmere was waiting for a hero. Or perhaps its next victim.
